Panel discussion on "20 Years of Nepal’s Accession to the WTO. What have we achieved? And what is the way forward."
On 19 May 2024, the WTO Chairs Programme (WCP) Nepal at Kathmandu University School of Management organized a panel discussion themed “20 Years of Nepal’s Accession to the WTO. What have we achieved? And what is the way forward.” The discussion focused on the milestones in trade and economic growth since Nepal joined the WTO and explored strategies to address ongoing challenges and future opportunities.
Dr. Toya Narayan Gyawali, Member Secretary of the National Planning Commission, chaired the session, while Mr. Aswin Parajuli, CEO of SEJON, moderated the panel. The panelists included Dr. Biju Thapaliya, Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University; Mr. Liladhar Adhikari, Under Secretary of the Trade Policy and Trade Cooperation Section at MoICS; Dr. Paras Kharel, Executive Director of South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics, and Environment; Dr. Yamuna Ghale, Lead of the SPIRIT Nepal Project at the Nepal Center for Contemporary Research (NCCR); and Mr. Vishnu Kumar Agrawal, Immediate Past President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries.
