The 12th TTRA Asia Pacific Annual Conference 2025, held under the theme “Regenerative Travel and Tourism Research in the Asia Pacific” and hosted by Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) from December 6 – 8, 2025, concluded successfully, with a strong commitment towards more inclusive and responsible tourism development guided by regenerative thinking in the ASIA PACIFIC region.

This year’s conference united renowned universities, institutions, and professionals from Nepal, Hong Kong, Japan, India, the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, China, Macau, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brunei—strengthening collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region to advance regenerative travel and tourism research. More than forty researchers from these countries presented their research papers during the event. The four days of the collaborative learning program began with pre-conference workshops, followed by an opening ceremony with keynote addresses, parallel research presentations, speaker forums, panel discussions, and a legacy project hour, and ended with a post-conference tour to Patan Durbar Square. The conference featured rich, forward-looking conversations on regenerative tourism, technological innovation, sustainability in the Global South, and evolving tourist behaviours. Some exemplary sustainable and regenerative tourism practices from Nepal were also shared. International delegates also experienced a taste of culturally immersive experiences of Nepal during the guided visit to Patan Durbar Square as a post-conference trip.

Prof. Dr. Bijay K. C., Dean of Kathmandu University School of Management and Chair of this conference, highlighted that tourism is a vital pillar for a country like Nepal—socially, culturally, and economically. Recognising its importance, the School has made a strategic decision to deepen its engagement in this sector and is working to connect management education more meaningfully with hospitality and tourism. In this spirit, KUSOM has been offering undergraduate programs in hospitality and aviation management and plans to launch a master’s program in this area, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning, research, and innovation.

The School extends its sincere appreciation to all distinguished speakers, presenters, participants, and partners for making the 12th TTRA APAC 2025 Conference a resounding success. Special gratitude to our supporters: the WTO Chairs Programme (WCP) Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Aspire College Biratnagar, Little Angels’ College of Management, Global Academy of Tourism & Hospitality Education (GATE), Nepal College of Management (NCM), Nabil Bank Limited, Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, and Glacier Educational Foundation.
