On 07-08 Jan 2024, the WCP-Nepal AIB South Asia Conference 2024 took place focusing on the theme “Global Trade and South Asia: Competitiveness, Value Chains, and ESG.” The conference was jointly organized by the WTO Chairs Programme Nepal and Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM).
The conference was chaired by Prof. Achyut Wagle, the Registrar of Kathmandu University, and Prof. K. Rangarajan, the Head of Kolkata Campus at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). The inaugural ceremony on January 7th, marked the commencement of the conference, graced by notable figures such as Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities; Mr. Narayan Prasad Sharma Duwadee, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Government of Nepal; Prof. S Raghunath, Chair of AIB SAC Executive Board, IIM Bangalore, and other distinguished guests.
Throughout the conference, a diverse array of panelists, speakers, paper presenters, participants, and guests from across the globe provided insightful dialogues, and their contributions played a pivotal role in shaping discussions on the issues impacting South Asia and the global trade landscape. The WCP-Nepal AIB South Asia Conference 2024 undoubtedly made a meaningful contribution to the academic and practical discourse in the global trade arena.
